What moves the price

The base under the pavers

A paver surface is only as good as the compacted base under it. Cracked concrete to break out, soft ground, or a low spot that holds water all add work before the first paver goes down.

Which pavers

Belgard and Tremron concrete pavers, or travertine for patios and pool decks. Thicker units rated for vehicles go on driveways; matching what is already on the lot can narrow the choice.

Drainage built in

A slope away from the house is part of every install, and where water runs down the driveway a channel drain at the apron is set into the pavers as they are laid, at $500 to $1,500 per point.

The street end

Work in the city right-of-way, such as the driveway apron at the street, needs a City of Jacksonville permit; when it applies, it is part of the written scope.

Condition before sealing

Pavers that are only faded sit at the low end of the sealing range. Black mold under oaks, oil and tire marks, or an old sealer that is peeling and has to be stripped first push it up.

Sunken sections

Sections that settled or were pushed up by roots are lifted, the base repaired and the pavers relaid. We price repairs by the section on the inspection, because the cause decides the work.

What typical paver jobs add up to

Driveway clean, re-sand & seal, 600 sq ftpolymeric sand in the joints, sealer rated for Florida sun; repeat every 2–3 years$900 – $2,000
New paver driveway, 600–1,000 sq ftcompacted base, edge restraint, slope away from the house$8,000 – $20,000
Paver patioBelgard, Tremron or travertine, matched to the house$4,000 – $10,000
Channel drain at the driveway apronset into the pavers when they are laid, not cut in later$500 – $1,500

Seal first, replace last

A faded, weedy paver driveway is rarely a reason to replace it. If the base is sound, cleaning, re-sanding and sealing brings the color back for a fraction of new pavers. Where sections have sunk, we lift and relay those and seal the rest; only a driveway that is failing everywhere gets priced as new. How much should a paver patio cost?

In our area pavers run $12 to $25 per square foot installed, and a typical patio comes to $4,000 to $10,000 depending on size, the paver and what is under it. The written price comes after a free inspection.

How much does a 20x20 paver patio cost?

A typical 600 to 1,000 square foot paver driveway runs $8,000 to $20,000 in our area, with the base, edge restraint and slope included. A channel drain at the apron adds $500 to $1,500.

Cleaning, re-sanding and sealing runs $1.25 to $3.50 per square foot here. A 600 square foot driveway is about $900 to $2,000, and driveways start from $899.
